The State Duma is considering a bill to reform investment platforms, Kommersant reported. Individuals will be able to invest up to RUB 1 million per platform, while the platforms themselves will be able to raise funds through their own services.

 

As Kirill Tishin, partner of KAMA FLOW, noted in his commentary to Kommersant, such measures can give an additional impetus to the development of the market and increase investor interest. It is particularly important that platform operators will have the right to attract investments on their own - this may strengthen their positions due to the participation of anchor players.

❗ However, in his opinion, the project does not solve the main task of protecting retail investors from the risks of investing in venture startups.

If professional investors (funds, experienced market participants) are involved in the deal, it should be a sign of quality and used by the regulator as an additional filter, Kirill Tishin believes.
